AEW Announces AEW All Out World Title Match

AEW Announces AEW All Out World Title Match: All Elite Wrestling has never before gone into a pay-per-view without a championship match. A unification match between Interim AEW World Champion Jon Moxley and Lineal AEW World Champion CM Punk seemed inevitable after Moxley successfully defended his title against “Lionheart” Chris Jericho three weeks ago at AEW Dynamite: Quake by the Lake and Punk returned immediately after the match.

It all changed the next week, though, when Punk and Moxley fought across numerous segments and AEW President Tony Khan declared that the unification match had to take place immediately. Last week on AEW Dynamite, the unification match did happen, but not in the way everyone expected.

Due to the timing of Moxley and Punk’s entrances, many viewers assumed they would run the whole 60 minutes, just as the one-hour-long match between Bryan Danielson and Hangman Page a few months before.

On the contrary, Moxley’s shocking three-minute victory over Punk sent shockwaves through the wrestling world.

The squash contest made a big deal out of Punk’s foot issue, with commentators wondering if the Best in the World returned to the ring too soon after being sidelined.

Moxley was seen celebrating as medical personnel wheeled away Punk, prompting many to speculate that Punk was being written off AEW television.

Four days before the pay-per-view, AEW will reveal on AEW Dynamite tonight who will challenge Moxley at All Out.

After announcing an open contract championship battle, newly united AEW World Champion Jon Moxley entered the ring and attacked CM Punk, calling him “fragile” in both mind and body.

Since Moxley let the cat out of the bag, anyone can sign the contract and challenge him at AEW All Out. Moxley hinted that this opponent may come from anywhere, including the AEW locker room, New Japan, or other organizations.

AEW producer Ace Steel came out to the ring as Moxley’s music played and he exited the ring to retrieve the contract off the floor.

Fans may find out who signs the deal tonight, as was hinted by the commentary, or they may have to wait until the pay-per-view this weekend. It’s important to remember that the Chicago crowd was chanting for MJF as Moxley made this declaration.

Later in the program, Punk hit the ring to grieve his loss, but Steel approached him. From there, he insisted that Punk remember who he is and sign the contract, which fired Punk up.

He then stepped onto the speaker to underscore that he still knows who he is and walked into the Chicago crowd. Punk signed the contract to meet Moxley this weekend in front of a throng of cheering fans from his hometown. This Sunday, September 4th, is AEW All Out.
