After the two parties failed to settle, Bobby Fish recently left AEW. He wrestled his final bout for the organization on the July 18 episode of “AEW Dark: Elevation.” Before joining AEW, Fish spent about four years working for WWE’s developmental brand “NXT” under Paul “Triple H” Levesque.
While there, he and the Undisputed Era enjoyed great success in the tag team division. Given this background, Fish recently talked about whether he ever experienced the same sense of affirmation from AEW CEO Tony Khan as he had with Levesque.
On “Wrestling Headlines,” Fish stated, “No, I felt like I had those moments to myself.” “Do you have someone in the back giving you that look or nod? No. Far from the pride, I experienced when working for Hunter.”
After being released from WWE a few months earlier, Fish spent over a year in AEW. He made his debut on the October 6, 2021, episode of “AEW Dynamite,” challenging the then-TNT Champion Sammy Guevara for the championship but failing.
Fish competed in 27 matches for the organization, one of which took place on AEW’s first pay-per-view of 2022, Revolution, when he and Kyle O’Reilly competed for the AEW World Tag Team Championships against the Young Bucks and the reigning champions Jurassic Express.
Fish has most recently made news by harshly criticizing former AEW World Champion CM Punk after Punk made derogatory remarks about several of his AEW colleagues during the post-All Out media scrum. This sparked a backstage brawl, the effects of which are still being felt as of this writing.
