The husband of missing Dee Ann Warner, Dale Warner, is accused of killing her. Tuesday marked the arrest of a suspect, according to Michigan State Police. In a text message, Lenawee County Prosecutor Jackie Wyse stated that on Tuesday afternoon, she had issued the warrant for Dale Warner’s arrest. He faces accusations of tampering with evidence and open murder.

A press release with more details will be released following the suspect’s arraignment, which is set on Wednesday, Nov. 22, in Lenawee County District Court, according to a state police post on X, formerly known as Twitter.

If the matter goes to trial, the open murder charge gives the jury the opportunity to determine the exact degree of murder.

Since April 2021, Dee Warner has been missing, and Dale Warner has been the subject of suspicion. According to Dee Warner’s relatives, she was planning to tell Dale she was divorcing him the night before she vanished. She wasn’t home the following day when family members went to see her for breakfast.

Through his former lawyer, Dale Warner has denied any involvement in Dee’s abduction. The current attorney for Dale Warner received a message from The Daily Telegram requesting an explanation.

“It’s almost impossible to feel like it’s real,” Dee Warner’s brother, Gregg Hardy, said Tuesday. “It seems surreal, so to speak, and the fact that 2 1/2 years of work … it’s been very much an uphill battle.”

The case’s ups and downs, according to Hardy, are what gave rise to the surreal sense surrounding Dale Warner’s arrest. “Every time we’ve had something that seemed positive, we’ve been set back by something negative,” he stated.

Hardy also thanked everyone for their support, both local and distant, and acknowledged the effort that went into the investigation. He claimed that the “Justice for Dee” initiative has received support from both locals and people worldwide.

He admitted that he had had high standards for the investigators. He did add, though, that more work needs to be done. “Being charged, being arraigned is only part of the process,” he said.

On Sunday, November 26, at 2 p.m., there will be a rally in support of Dee Warner at the historic Lenawee County Courthouse in Adrian’s downtown. According to Hardy, the purpose was to draw attention to the case because neither an arrest nor a death certificate had been made.

Hardy stated that the family will determine what they want to do with the demonstration now that Dale Warner has been arrested. By Wednesday, November 22, he added, they should know what they’re going to do, and the community will be informed of their plans.
