The audience can be heard gasping at one point, and Disney employees yells to “clear the area” as a big explosion of flames emerges from the dragon.
According to a statement from Disney, park visitors were evacuated from a number of neighboring attractions because of the dense smoke.
The company continued by saying that the source of the fire is still being looked into and that, for the time being, all similar fire effects will be halted at all of its theme parks worldwide “out of an abundance of caution”.
Maleficent has misbehaved before; in 2018, her head caught fire while riding a float in a parade at Disney World in Florida.
The main antagonist Maleficent, often known as “the mistress of all evil,” transforms into a dragon to battle Prince Phillip in the 1959 animated feature Sleeping Beauty. In 2014, Angelina Jolie took on the role of her in a live-action movie.
