Visiting now directs to DuckDuckGo. Reasons for the domain transfer are still unknown. The domain was earlier directing to Google. DuckDuckGo had accused the search giant of anti-competitive behavior.

In recent years Google has faced some major antitrust scrutiny and enforcement internationally, including in the European Union.A 2017 Commission decision found that Google misuses it’s Internet dominance to give itself advantage in the search results.
Any mis spells or mistypes redirects to Google. and any other mis-spells directing to Google were posing a severe threat to DDG.

The domain transfer was welcomed by DDG.
DuckDuckGo’s CEO said that, “We’re pleased Google has chosen to transfer ownership of to DuckDuckGo. Having will make it easier for people to use DuckDuckGo.”

Google confirmed the transfer and issued a statement, “Google has agreed with DuckDuckGo, Inc. to transfer ownership and rights of the domain to DuckDuckGo.”
