The Wicked movie adaption gives fans their first look at Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo.

On Sunday, the hit Broadway musical’s director Jon M. Chu posted two stills from the upcoming two-part film adaptation to Instagram.

“You weren’t told the whole story. What happens when you veer off the Yellow Brick Road? FIRST LOOK of the #WickedMovie … currently in production in Oz. 🌪️🫧🧹”

Chu wrote the post’s caption.

In the first image, Erivo, 36, is dressed as the green-skinned Elphaba, climbing a broom and facing away from the camera.

The actress added multiple green heart emojis to her remark on Chu’s tweet. “It’s been wonderful making magic with you.”

In the second image, Grande, 29, is seen dressed as Glinda and climbing a steep flight of stairs while sporting a vivid pink ball gown and blonde hair.

The Tony-winning Broadway musical Wicked, based on Gregory Maguire’s 1995 novel Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West, will be adapted into a movie by Universal, which was first announced back in 2016.

Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo were chosen to play significant roles in November 2021. Jeff Goldblum confirmed his position as the Wizard while making fun of Grande and Erivo for being “very good” in their roles during a March 2023 visit on Jimmy Kimmel Live.
