As long-time readers of Marvel comic books are aware, the Fantastic Four are essential to the continuity of the Marvel universe. However, that has always been the case since the MCU began in 2008 for various legal reasons.
Now that Marvel Studios is in charge of the superhero family, it’s time to show them in movies in a whole different light. Studio head Kevin Feige is well aware of how they must be portrayed in the current multiverse, and his strategy is superb.
Feige discussed his connection to Marvel Comics and, by extension, The Fantastic Four in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. The studio chief acknowledged earlier film versions of Reed Richards, Ben Grimm, Sue and Johnny Storm and said that the new Marvel Studios-produced version of the team aims to raise them to a much higher standard:
“…Fantastic Four is the foundation for everything that came after in the comics. There’s certainly been versions of it [on screen], but never inhabiting the storytelling of the MCU. And that’s something that is really exciting for us. People will start to hear more about that soon. We plan on that being a big pillar of the MCU going forward, just the way they’ve been in the comics for 50 or 60 years.”
Kevin Feige Explains the Fantastic Four Final Mission for the MCU
It will be interesting to see how the studio manages to make them a pillar of the MCU coming into the game so late, especially considering that the film won’t be an origin story, given that Fantastic Four will hit the big screen in 2025, seventeen years after the Marvel Cinematic Universe first took off with Iron Man.
While John Krasinski’s portrayal of Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic was shown in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, but there has been no official announcement that Krasinski will play the character again in the future film.
The following was published by Matt Ramos: Kevin Feige discussed the future of Marvel and made the subsequent revelations:

Fantastic Four has a convoluted past with the silver screen, as you are aware if you have followed Marvel’s history in cinema before the MCU. Two films from 2005 and 2007 earned mixed reviews from audiences and reviewers, spurring a 2015 revival that received even worse reviews.
So, other than reintroducing the group to moviegoers, 2025’s Fantastic Four has to restore the superheroes’ public image and win us over to their cause.
