In sports, January 26 is known as a “dark day.” In a helicopter disaster, basketball legend Kobe Bryant, his teenage daughter, and seven others perished. It is still agonizing for the millions of his fans worldwide to accept that “Mamba” is no longer with us.
According to an autopsy, Bryant died from physical trauma three months after his death, with severe brain damage and 30% burns. According to the autopsy, the pilot who transported Bryant and others to a basketball event had neither alcohol nor narcotics in his system.
In January, all nine suffered severe injuries when their aircraft crashed into a hillside west of Los Angeles, USA. After Bryant’s body was discovered outside the chopper wreckage, it was necessary to identify him based on his fingerprints. The NBA player and his daughter Gianna died in the accident.
According to the report that was made public, the basketball player and his traveling companions died instantly as a result of physical trauma. Juan Carrillo, Senior Deputy Medical Examiner, said, “These injuries are rapidly if not instantly fatal.”
“On January 28, the cause of death for all nine decedents was certified as blunt trauma. The manner of death was certified as accident,” states the autopsy report.
The collision that claimed the lives of the ex-Los Angeles Lakers player, his daughter Gianna, pilot Ara Zobayan, and the others were deemed unintentional.

With Bryant, his daughter, and her teammates, Zobayan, an accomplished pilot, flew to Mamba Sports Academy in California in January. When the helicopter made a rapid spin and shot into hills, the pilot had almost succeeded in bursting through the clouds.
It was traveling at a speed of roughly 296 kph when it hit the ground, which generated a helicopter effect and scattered debris. Burns on the deceased were found to have occurred after death despite the flames being submerged in the rubble.
According to the autopsy, Bryant had three of his four daughters’ names tattooed on his right arm and shoulder, above where his wife Vanessa’s name was etched.
The National Transportation Safety Board said there was no indication of a mechanical malfunction in the helicopter but did not resolve the cause of the disaster.
Vanessa, Bryant’s wife, has already filed a complaint, alleging that the pilot should not have continued flying in the fog because it was “careless and negligent.”
According to a court document submitted by Zobayan’s brother, Berge Zobayan, “Bryant knew the risks of the helicopter, and his survivors aren’t entitled to damages from the pilot’s estate.”
