The third season of the popular science fiction shows NBC has ordered La Brea. The announcement comes as viewers prepare to return to the show’s bizarre underground world for the second half of the second season’s return to the network later tonight.
Fans will be happy to find that the season finale will not stop the show but rather set it up for another round of mystery adventure in the still-running Season 2, which will include 14 episodes. The Harris family, which is ripped in half after massive sinkhole tremors their village and divides the family in half, is the focus of this time-traveling serial.
Eve Harris (Natalie Zea), her son Josh (Jack Martin), and many other Los Angeles residents are forced into a strange new world below ground due to the disaster. In contrast, her estranged husband Gavin (Eoin Macken), their daughter Izzy (Zyra Gorecki), and other residents are left above ground.
The family works together to survive in this strange underground prehistoric environment, where the stakes for survival increase more and higher. While La Brea’s inaugural episode received harsh criticism from critics, which typically spells the end for a show, La Brea has triumphed despite all odds.
Science fiction lovers laud the show’s wild creativity, calling it one of the craziest programs on primetime television.
Despite the scolding from reviewers, sci-fi fans tuned in in large numbers for the first season, which finished the 2021–22 season as the highest-rated program on NBC and ranked as the top show of the autumn seasons among the 18–49 audience demographic.
With an average of 4 million live+same-day viewers, Season 2’s debut received a rating of 0.49. The sitcom averaged 3.6 million viewers per season before taking a mid-season break in November last year, justifying another renewal.
