Michelle Branch Divorce: Following adultery charges and Patrick Carney’s arrest for domestic assault, Michelle Branch has filed for divorce.
The branch has initiated the divorce process in the state of Tennessee. In a statement she released on Friday and that TMZ has now obtained, she blames their incompatibility as the reason for the breakup.
Carney, the drummer for The Black Keys, is married to Michelle, and the couple has two small children. She has filed a petition for child custody and child support that also requests visitation rights for Patrick. Patrick has been asked to cover the branch’s legal costs.

As with other cases heard in that court, the judge will require the divorcing spouse to attend and complete a parenting court.
TMZ reported last week that Michelle and Patrick had broken up after she accused him of infidelity via Twitter. Michelle said at the time, “To say that I am absolutely devastated doesn’t even begin to describe how I feel for myself and my family. After having the floor yanked out from under me, I need to figure out what to do next. Please respect my need for quiet and consideration around my young children.
At least Michelle Branch can be comforted in knowing most of the internet has taken her side in her upcoming divorce.

However, it was soon revealed that police had been summoned to Patrick and Michelle’s home and that Michelle had been detained for domestic abuse after admitting to striking her husband once or twice in the face. Shortly after her arrest, she was allowed to return to her husband and their newborn daughter.
After marrying for slightly over three years, Michelle and Patrick divorced.
