School officials have verified that a student from Fulton High School d!ed in a collision on Sunday night that also wounded another student.

According to the Oswego County 911 Center, the two-vehicle collision happened at 5:35 p.m. on state Route 48 close to Chesbro Drive in Granby.

Superintendent of Fulton City Schools Brian Pulvino sent a statement to the neighborhood hours after the accident. “It is with a heavy heart that I write to inform you of a devastating motor vehicle accident that occurred this evening involving Fulton City School District students,” he wrote.

“At this time, law enforcement officials have reported that one of our high school students d!ed in this accident and one other high school student was injured.”

When contacted by phone on Sunday night, Pulvino said he wanted to inform the neighborhood that the district will provide counselors and other support systems for students and staff at G. Ray Bodley High School this week.

It’s a terrible time for our town, he declared. It demonstrates the importance of each and every day. My heart breaks for our students and families.

The county sheriff’s office is looking into the collision. Menter Ambulance, the Cody, Granby Center, Phoenix, and Hannibal volunteer fire departments arrived to the scene, along with state police and Fulton municipal police. According to 911 dispatchers, Granby’s Route 48 was closed from Wilcox to Wybron roads until 9:28 p.m.
