Netflix Asks For Patience As 'Love Is Blind' Live Reunion Gets Delayed

The eagerly awaited live reunion on Netflix After technical difficulties kept excited viewers waiting, the season 4 cast of the reality dating show “Love is Blind” was postponed for Sunday.

In the end, Netflix decided to record the program for streaming, declaring that it will be accessible everywhere on Monday at 3 p.m. ET.

“To everyone who stayed up late, woke up early, gave up their Sunday afternoon… we are incredibly sorry that the Love is Blind Live Reunion did not turn out as we had planned,” Netflix tweeted in a statement. “We’re filming it now and we’ll have it on Netflix as soon as humanly possible. Again, thank you and sorry.”

At 8 p.m. ET on Sunday, the second live performance in Netflix’s history was scheduled to begin. Netflix tweeted a few minutes after the scheduled start time: “Love is … late. #LoveIsBlindLIVE will be on in 15 minutes!”

The streaming site assured the show “will be worth the wait” a short while later. Netflix customers who attempted to access the stream were greeted by a screen that read, “It’s almost time! The live event will start soon.”

Like many of its streaming rivals, the firm isn’t used to broadcasting live events. On March 4, Netflix streamed “Chris Rock: Selective Outrage,” a standup special by the comedian, which was the only live performance to air on the service. That streamed flawlessly.

Competitors of Netflix have had success with live streaming. Thursday Night Football was first shown on Amazon Prime last year. Major League Baseball and Apple TV+ have a partnership for some games. Additionally, other rivals have entered the live market.

Netflix, however, has a reputation for being resistive — not because of technical difficulties, but rather because the business frequently claims that live broadcast rights, particularly for sports, are expensive.

Nevertheless, Netflix had a difficult year in 2022, losing members as consumer habits changed. In response to the ongoing changes in the media landscape, the firm began experimenting with live broadcasts.

The witty and cutting social media posts began to pour in as the globe waited for the Nick and Vanessa Lachey-hosted reunion episode.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a Democrat from New York, was one of the incensed users, and Netflix retweeted her.

The bankrupt former video store, Blockbuster, tweeted: “Remember renting vhs’ from us. You could start it on time no problem… This is what we get.”

Couples that get engaged before meeting one other appear in the “Love is Blind” television series. When the firm began streaming three years ago, when traditional network and broadcast television were effectively the only venues to get a reality fix, it helped the company establish its reality TV chops.
