Elizabeth II, the Queen of the United Kingdom, has passed away. Elizabeth was born in London’s Mayfair, the first child of the Duke and Duchess of York (later King George VI and Queen Elizabeth). Elizabeth’s father was crowned king in 1936, following the abdication of his brother King Edward VIII.
She was educated privately at home and served in the Auxiliary Territorial Service during World War II before marrying Philip Mountbatten, a former Greek and Danish royal, in November 1947. The couple stayed married until his passing in April 2021. Charles, Prince of Wales; Anne, Princess Royal; Prince Andrew, Duke of York; and Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex are their four children.

On September 8, 2022, Buckingham Palace announced that the Queen was being monitored at Balmoral after medical professionals expressed concern. “Following additional assessment this morning, the Queen’s doctors are concerned about Her Majesty’s health and have advised she remain under medical monitoring,” the statement said.
The four sons of the Queen, two daughters-in-law, and Prince William and Prince Harry travelled to be with their grandmother, who is still at ease and residing in Balmoral. Many members of the royal family travelled to Balmoral Castle in the Scottish Highlands after learning of the Queen’s sickness to be with her before she passed away.
