QVC Cancels .QVC domain plans

QVC is the latest business to end plans to operate a branded top level domain name.

The company has informed ICANN that it wishes to terminate its contract to run .QVC. It never used the domain name.

QVC, which is known for live on-air product demonstrations and sales pitches, is part of Qurate Retail Group. Qurate owns HSN and Frontgate, among other brands. It did not apply for top-level domains for its other wholly-owned brands.

.QVC is the 95th branded top-level domain to enter termination proceedings. A handful of operators have withdrawn their termination requests, and TLD operator Short Dot has acquired two dot-brands that entered termination proceedings: .bond and .sbs.
