Riff Raff, real name Horst Christian Simco, was born in 1982 in Houston, Texas. His mother was a maid, and his father was a war veteran who had some post-war troubles.

His parents didn’t have much money, so they had to work multiple jobs to make ends meet. Riff Raff is one of many siblings, and his mother’s family is German.

He attended Langham Creek High School and played basketball there until his senior year. He did this since his father was diagnosed with tonsil cancer and his parents divorced. They settled in Duluth, Minnesota.

Riff Raff earned his GED and went on to play basketball at Hibbing Community College in Minnesota. But in 2003, he dropped out of college and returned to Houston.

He found a job there painting vehicles in the prevailing style of the day, which used bright, colorful paint. He also changed his name to Riff Raff and launched his career as a rapper. Later, he relocated to Los Angeles in order to pursue a career in rap.

He was desperate to get on television, so he attended numerous auditions. One of them was for P. Diddy’s Making the Band, but he was turned down. His YouTube videos grew extremely famous, and in 2011, he signed a deal with S.O.D. Money Gang, Inc.

In 2012, he released a mixtape titled “Summer of Surf” and another titled “Birth of an Icon.” He made a lot of money after releasing his first real album, “Neon Icon,” in June 2014.

He went on tour with the Vans Warped Tour in 2015 to promote his album. In April 2019, he published his third album, “Pink Python,” and six months later, he released his fourth album, “Cranberry Vampire.”
