The most significant talking point from the event was Reigns and Sami Zayn, even though Cody Rhodes’ victory in the men’s Royal Rumble match appeared to guarantee his place in the main event of WrestleMania versus Roman Reigns.
During Zayn turned on Reigns after the latter’s fight with Kevin Owens, the long-running plot involving the Bloodline and Zayn gathered even more steam. Some even dared to imagine a situation where Zayn would compete for Reigns’ Undisputed WWE Universal Championship at WrestleMania.
Unfortunately, that doesn’t seem to be in the cards. While Zayn will face Reigns, the match will occur at Elimination Chamber in Montreal, Zayn’s homeland, in February rather than the “Showcase of the Immortals,” according to a report on this morning’s Wrestling Observer Radio.
“Sami Zayn is in charge of setup. The main event for Montreal is undoubtedly Roman Reigns vs. Sami Zayn, which has always been the plan. They were not prepared for Sami Zayn to become so hot. They chose not to alter their goals and do not believe Sami Zayn is the right choice to compete in the WrestleMania main event.

The intention was made to do it. They do perceive Cody to be that. When Dwayne wasn’t available, Cody was always the fallback, though they undoubtedly did discuss Austin “in line with WOR.
Reigns vs. Rhodes for WrestleMania was officially confirmed by WWE last night on “WWE Raw,” going so far as to print a poster of the two. Uncertainty surrounds Zayn’s situation for WrestleMania, but rumors suggest a match between him and Kevin Owens against the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Champions, The Usos.
