Since the release of the new sitcom That ’90s Show last week, Netflix has kindly provided us with a beautiful sitcom to binge-watch (19th January). Leia Forman (Callie Haverda), the daughter of Eric and Donna from the original series, visits her grandparents in Point Place for the summer in the funny new program, a reboot of the legendary That ’70s Show set in 1995.
Leia, who is trying desperately to reinvent herself during her time off, meets new people and develops a possible romantic interest in Jay, the son of Michael and Jackie, who appears in the series as cameos as Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis.
We’re already anxious to find out if there will be a second season of the show even though the 10-part series debuted tonight. What is known about the forthcoming second season of Netflix’s ‘That ’90s Show’ is detailed below?
That 90s Show Season 2 Renewed On Netflix
That ’90s Show Season 2 is officially a thing, according to Netflix’s announcement of the sitcom’s continuance. The second season of That ’90s Show has been renewed for 16 episodes, six more than the first.
The cast and crew will be back for the second season, which had numerous cameos from members of That ’70s Show. Additionally, as it will occur in 1996, it will advance the program by a year. Said co-creator and showrunner Gregg Mettler:
“All of us at That ‘90s Show were beyond excited by the warm, enthusiastic response to our first season. We can’t wait to return to Point Place for another summer of laughs and surprises. Hello 1996!”
The That ’70s Show co-creators Bonnie & Terry Turner also added their enthusiastic response. The pair said in a statement:
“We at Point Place are grateful that you choose us despite the fact that you have a lot of entertainment options. For many years to come, we hope to amuse you. “Bye!”
Said Tracey Pakosta, Netflix Vice President of Comedy Series:
“We’re thrilled that the incredibly funny stories from Point Place, Wisconsin continue to resonate around the world, no matter the decade,”
Kurtwood Smith and Debra Jo Rupp reprise their Red Forman and Kitty Forman roles in the ten-episode series based on That ’90s Show. Callie Haverda, Ashley Aufderheide from “Emergence,” Mace Coronel from “Colin in Black and White,” Maxwell Acee Donovan from “Gabby Duran & The Unsittables,” and Reyn Doi is also present (Side Hustle)
Reads the official synopsis of the first season:
“Hello, Wisconsin! It’s 1995 and Leia Forman, daughter of Eric and Donna, is visiting her grandparents for the summer where she bonds with a new generation of Point Place kids under the watchful eye of Kitty and the stern glare of Red. “S*ex, drugs, and rock ’n roll never dies, it just changes clothes.”
What Has the Cast Said About That 90s Show Season 2?
Netflix has not yet confirmed a second season, but the cast members appear eager. Ashley Aufderheide, who plays Leia’s friend Gwen, told J-14 she wants a season two:
“There’s nothing that I want more than a season 2. I literally would do anything.”
Ashley said she wants to explore Gwen’s various aspects and even see her join a band when asked what she would like to see for Gwen in a potential season two:
“I feel like Gwen has a lot of different layers to her. I mean, she’s very bold. She’s a riot girl, rebellious. But I think that comes from somewhere. It definitely does. And at the end of the season, you see more of a vulnerable side to her. So I definitely want to explore that more in season 2 — just peel back more of Gwen’s layers, [that] would be great.”
Leia’s lead actress Callie Haverda hasn’t said much thus far other than to express her hope for a second season.
