Tucows betting big on Ting, its high speed fiber internet service

Ting, a high speed fiber internet service provider floated by Tucows, is slowly expanding into US markets. The company is expected to roll out in Fuquay-Varina by the end of this year.

“We now have five fully active towns, where we were installing, activating and supporting customers every day,” CEO Elliot Noss told analysts on a recent earnings call.

Ting is going slow in its U.S. expansion. By the end of the third quarter, the firm had 22,500 serviceable addresses and 6,200 active customers. The company expects to reach 30,000 serviceable addresses by the end of the year.

“And we continue to be pleased with how these serviceable addresses are translating predictably into subscribers and recurring margin,” he said. “At this point, I’m also ready to declare Ting Internet a business. It’s no longer a test or an experiment. It is a working, thriving business.”

As expected from Tucows, the service provider, Ting, operates from the premium domain, Ting.com, thereby showing the world the power of premium domains in branding.
