We Are Here Season 3 Release Date, Cast, Plot And Everything You Know!

We Are Here Season 3 Release Date: Drag queens Bob, Eureka, and Shangela return in Season 3 to continue presenting tiny communities with the very human side of drag. Makeover reality TV, which once dominated the airwaves in the middle of the United States, seems to have all but vanished from today’s networks and streaming services.

Are alterations in how society values personal appearance to blame? Perhaps the Kardashians have cornered the market that makeover shows would generally serve. We… don’t know. However, even though reality makeover series have been primarily eclipsed by dating and relationship shows, one notable exception is HBO’s unabashedly upbeat We’re Here.

Each episode of We’re Here has Bob the Drag Queen, Shangela, and Eureka O’Hara (all of whom have competed on RuPaul’s Drag Race) acting as fairy godmothers to three regular people from the community they are visiting.

For its third season, We’re Here likely chose Florida partly due to the state’s surprising “Don’t Say Gay” rule, which Governor Ron DeSantis signed into law this past spring. It makes perfect sense, given that Florida is home to a vibrant gay rights movement and a right-wing nightmare, as well as to the culture of Miami Beach and the magic of Disney World.

We’re Here wanted to be a part of all the action in Florida for obvious reasons. However, the craziness that began in Florida has only continued to grow. Now, some jurisdictions are looking to outlaw children from attending drag shows and drag shows in general, classifying them along with sex work and other seemingly lewd activities.

While the panic may have started in Florida, it has spread like wildfire up the coast. With so many exciting characters and plot points to explore, it’s excellent that We’re Here spent a good chunk of this season in Florida. Since Vico, Jaime, Dempsey, Mandy, Lori, and Mark have taken unique and exciting routes through life, it would have been a tragedy to have them all reduced to mere footnotes in a 60-minute one-off.

Consider Mark, who still longs for his longtime companion of 30 years or more, Vernon. He led a complete life, including an epic romance with a guy his family never entirely accepted as his companion. His mother, 88 years old and highly devout, has a prayer room in the house, but he is convinced that she doesn’t appreciate him for who he is.

In response to Bob’s probing about her opinion of Mark’s life, she says, “Whatever he wants, I guess,” which is not the case. Later, Bob explains to the camera that Mark’s secretive behavior results from Bob’s “casual withholding.” The fear of losing his mother prevents him from coming out and living his truth.

I’m hoping that by participating in We’re Here. Mark would recognize how much he values his mother’s and others’ approval. For screaming out loud, he just got married and has no idea if he informed anyone. In whatever form it may take, I pray that he will be able to see the light and live his life there from now on.

I believe he is aware that he must, as he explains to the camera, “you can’t keep lying and still be happy.” He has experienced happiness thanks to his relationship with Vernon.
