Indiana Rep. Jim Banks Takes The Senate By Storm With New Bid!
Rep. Jim Banks, a Republican from Indiana, said Tuesday that he is running for US Senate. He wants to fill the seat Republican Sen. Mike Braun leaves open because he is running for governor. “We NEED conservatives in Washington who aren’t afraid to fight against Biden’s radical agenda.
“That’s why I’m running for the United States Senate to represent our great state of Indiana,” Banks wrote in a tweet on Tuesday morning. Banks is a conservative Navy veteran who just won his fourth term in the House.
He is the first Republican to run in what could be a crowded and competitive primary for the open Senate seat in a state that is usually red. The Club for Growth has already started to attack one of his possible opponents, former Gov. Mitch Daniels. Last week, they released a 60-second digital ad to do so.
Governor Eric Holcomb and Rep. Vicky Spartz, who represents the 5th Congressional District, are two other well-known people who have shown interest. Banks was first chosen to represent Indiana’s 3rd Congressional District in the House in 2016.

He was on the Armed Services Committee and the Committee on Education and the Workforce when he was in the House. Banks was also one of the Republican candidates chosen by then-House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy to serve on the January 6 House select committee.

However, then-Speaker Nancy Pelosi turned him down because Banks refused to certify the results of the 2020 presidential election. In his announcement that he was running for Senate, he talked about how he had served in Afghanistan.

“I was proud to defend America then, and I’m just as proud to fight for conservative Hoosier values in Congress now,” Banks said.
