A friend of Michelle, Jeehae Lee, told Golfweek in 2021 that when Michelle and Jonnie first met, they seemed very comfortable with each other. They were just being themselves, which was a good sign of their strong connection.

Who is Jonnie West?
Jonnie West is the director of pro personnel for the Golden State Warriors and has been with the team since 2012. He was the director of basketball operations from 2018 to 2021 and also worked as the associate general manager for the Warriors’ G-League team in Santa Cruz.
Jonnie comes from a famous basketball family; he is the son of NBA legend Jerry West, who had a great career as an NBA executive. Jonnie is now making his own path in the league.
Jonnie played basketball for West Virginia, his father’s alma mater, from 2007 to 2011. Though he only played 350 minutes over four seasons, he was part of the team’s Final Four run in 2010 and was a teammate of current Celtics coach Joe Mazzulla.
Jonnie met Michelle Wie in December 2018, and they got married less than a year later.
