Siragusa had many risk factors for a heart attack, including a family history of heart disease and a history of losing and regaining weight repeatedly during his lifetime.

His father died of a heart attack at the age of 48, while in his son’s arms. Siragusa once told Howard Stern in an emotional interview that he was aware of his own mortality and that he wanted to die with a smile on his face.
