Uncovering the Mystery Behind Paolina Van Kleef in The Last of Us!
The Last of Us episode 6 subtly alludes to Dina from Part II, but who is Paolina van Kleef, the actress who portrays the unidentified Staring Girl? The HBO adaptation of The Last Of Us has included a few more nods and easter eggs that act as references to the second game in the franchise, even if it is evident that the TV program is based on the video game of the same name.
One of the most significant of these is an allusion to Ellie’s potential love interest in The Last Of Part II, Dina, which appears in the sixth episode of the series as Joel and Ellie travel to Tommy’s new residence in Jackson, Wyoming.
Who is Paolina Van Kleef in The Last of Us?
Paolina van Kleef plays the Staring Girl in episode 6 of The Last Of Us. Paolina is a Canadian citizen who lives in Vancouver. She was born in 1997, making her 25 or 26 years old, depending on her birthdate, which is currently unknown.
Paolina is a novice to the acting world; Yasmina, a 2018 short film, was her only previous role. That’s correct. Paolina has only had two acting roles, although she will appear in the upcoming Netflix series The Night Agent in March 2023.
Although Paolina’s appearance is unmistakably a reference to Dina from Part II, HBO and the show’s writers have not yet revealed if Paolina will actually play Dina in season 2 or whether she will only serve as a stand-in until a permanent cast member is discovered.
Ellie Catches a Familiar-looking Girl Staring at Her
Joel and Ellie are welcomed into the quiet town of Jackson, Wyoming after they finally learn Tommy’s whereabouts. Once there, the two have their first good dinner in several weeks, and as Ellie tucks into her meal, she notices a girl ogling her from across the dining room.
The mystery girl is scared away by her quick question, “What,” and players of The Last Of Us Part II will immediately recognize her as Dina, Ellie’s love interest in the upcoming sequel, thanks to her dark hair and clothes.
Series Co-creators Remain Coy on Whether That’s Dina
Neil Druckmann and Craig Mazin, the game’s co-creators, discussed Paolina’s cameo on the official podcast for The Last of Us. While they strongly implied that the actress was playing Dina, they would not confirm it. Began Neil Druckmann:
“There’s a nice kind of, would you call it an easter egg? I don’t know if I’d call it an easter egg,”
“It’s a little, I mean, it’s ambiguous, somebody’s staring at Ellie, wonder who that could be, theoretically or not?”
”We’ll find out maybe one day.”
