Brooke Shields Relationship History: Explored The Former Relationships of The Pretty Baby Star
Brooke Shields has been open about her personal life, particularly her previous romances, in both a 2014 tell-all memoir and a 2023 documentary.
Before her 2001 marriage to Chris Henchy, with whom she now has two daughters, the actress had relationships with Michael Jackson, John Travolta, and Liam Neeson.
Rumored Affair With Scott Baio
Although their courtship appeared picture-perfect, Brooke Shields claimed in her 2015 memoir, There Was a Little Girl: The Real Story of My Mother and Me, that their dates were only for show.
Even Scott Baio acknowledged that Shields was “just a friend.” Brooke Shields and Scott Baio were two child stars and teen idols (pictured here attending an event together in 1978).
John Travolta: Another Teri-Directed Affair
When Shields’ publicity-hungry mother Teri arranged for her 16-year-old daughter to meet the 27-year-old actor in 1981, both Shields and John Travolta had movies coming out (Endless Love for Shields and Blow Out for him).
The actors grew fond of one another, even if their relationship was platonic. Travolta remarked at the time that Brooke “radiates goodness.” “She is unharmed. Because she is precious, you don’t want someone to mistreat her or say inappropriate things.”
Michael Jackson: Friends Or Lovers?
Shields and Michael Jackson had all the characteristics of a perfect couple—except kissing—when they first met when they were 13 and 19, respectively. Jackson presented Shields with a ring, and she added, “We just felt safe with each other” (pictured with her at a 1984 event).
“We enjoyed watching movies, eating candy, and laughing at the chaos surrounding us. That was hardly romantic, but we did love each other.”
Throughout the years, they became pretty close, and Jackson even invited her to Elizabeth Taylor’s 1991 wedding as his date. Jackson’s assertion that they were dating on The Oprah Winfrey Show caused Shields and Jackson to fall out, as she stated in her 2023 documentary Beautiful Baby.
Shields was requested to speak at the King of Pop’s memorial by Jackson’s mother after the King of Pop passed away in June 2009.
Dean Cain: Lost virginity To Her Princeton Classmate
Dean Cain was Shields’ football player lover and a classmate at Princeton before he played Superman on Lois & Clark.
She described her relationship with the man she dated for two years and lost her virginity to as being “passionate about each other.” “Regarding s*x, he was incredibly and agonizingly patient with me. Nonetheless, I thought Mom was present even when she wasn’t.”
Shields talked about her misgivings about how the two’s relationship ended in a 2023 cover story for PEOPLE, claiming she was “paralyzed by humiliation” and had already apologized to Cain. She recalled, “I replied, ‘I’m sorry for you, and I’m very sorry for me.
Liam Neeson: Proposed Without A Ring
After graduating from Princeton and breaking up her romance with Cain, Liam Neeson courted shields with poetry and wine. They were seen together at the 1992 screening of The Ox. She writes in her memoir, “I was so pleased with going out with a true movie star.
“After just three months, we were serious. He proposed to me without a ring.” Neeson moved on with his Nell co-star and future wife, Natasha Richardson, shortly after their romance ended.
Andre Agassi: A Short-Lived Marriage
In 1993, Shields made the acquaintance of tennis pro-Andre Agassi, and the two started dating via fax. She writes in her memoir, “We started communicating via long-winded faxes about life and God and the weird burden of celebrity and dominating parents.
We were aware, deep down, that we needed one another. Love quickly gave way to resentment, and Agassi caused a commotion on the Friends set when Shields portrayed a fan who was fixated on Joey.
Nevertheless, the pair married in 1997 but split up after two years. Shields claims that Agassi’s addiction to crystal meth, which he eventually told Agassi about years into their relationship, was the cause of their breakup.
Shields sold the $7.4 million Los Angeles house she bought when she married Agassi in March 2022.
George Michael: “Definitely One-Sided,” Shields Says
She writes about her crush on George Michael, who eventually came out as gay, “It was one-sided,” as shown here with her at a party in 2000. Michael drove her home in a limo one evening after an event, but when it came time to make things official, he said he wanted “to concentrate on [his] work.”

Chris Henchy: Currently Married
Shields and Chris Henchy, who was then the Spin City supervising producer, grew close while collaborating on the NBC show Christmas in Washington in 1998.
Shields and Henchy’s affair grew after she divorced Agassi, and they wed in a secret ceremony in Marina del Rey, California, in 2001.
He only needs to say, “You know, you look gorgeous,” if she ever starts to feel nervous, she told PEOPLE. And I am confident that it is sincere. They are still going strong after two daughters and more than twenty years.
