Fatal Shooting Claims 3 Lives Leaves Others Wounded!

In Farmington, New Mexico, a gunman “randomly” opened fire at automobiles and homes on Monday, leaving at least three people dead and six others injured, including two police officers.

Farmington Police Chief Steve Hebbe, the unidentified 18-year-old suspect used three different types of firearms, including an “AR-style rifle,” before being fatally shot by police.

Although the motivation is still being looked into, Hebbe claimed that the shooting appeared “pure random” because no specific people, places of worship, or institutions were targeted.

The incident was, the police chief, “honestly one of the most horrific and difficult days that Farmington has ever had as a community.”

The incident started at 10:57 MT in Farmington, a city of around 50,000 people in northwest New Mexico, about 15 miles south of the Colorado border. It took place near Dustin Avenue and Ute Street.

Hebbe claims that the suspect “rammed” through the area for up to a quarter of a mile, “randomly” firing “at whatever entered his head to shoot at.” The police chief, shots were fired at least six houses and three vehicles.

Jolene Robledo, a resident of Farmington, claimed that a gunshot entered her small daughter’s bedroom through the window.

“It was traumatic to be barricaded in your laundry room with your daughter, who’s 1,” Robledo sobbedly told ABC News that “Good Morning America.”

Police officers responded to a “chaotic scene,” by Farmington Deputy Police Chief Baric Crum. According to Crum, four police engaged the suspect in a gunfight, which resulted in the suspect’s de@th.

The two hurt officers, one from the Farmington Police Department and the other from the New Mexico State Police, were taken to the nearby San Juan Regional Medical Center where their conditions were described as stable.

Hebbe, the state police officer is still hospitalized but is doing well while the Farmington police officer received treatment and was released.

Until further notice, Central Kitchen, the CATE Center, Apache, and McKinley elementary schools are all under lockdown, according to a Facebook alert by the Farmington Municipal School District on Monday. The authorities, all of the kids, and the workers are safe.

According to the school system, the lockdown was removed and the pupils were scheduled to be released at 1:05 MT. The shooting is still under investigation.

The U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, the Farmington Police Department, and the New Mexico State Police all responded to the scene and participated in the investigation.

Crum stated, “We are actively looking at several blocks of this crime scene to determine what exactly happened.” The governor of New Mexico, Michelle Lujan Grisham, tweeted that she was keeping an eye on the situation and offered her condolences to the victims.
