When Alyssa was eight years old, and her sister Gisele was nine, they enrolled them in Total Futbol Academy (TFA) so that they could play on boys’ teams. After that, they moved to play for Real So Cal, an Elite Clubs National League team, until the COVID-19 pandemic34.
Mario and Karen have always inspired Alyssa to challenge herself and follow her aspirations. They were in favor of her decision to withdraw from Stanford University and declare for the 2023 NWSL Draft, in which Angel City FC selected her as the first overall pick.
Alyssa Thompson Siblings
Gisele and Zoe are Alyssa’s two younger sisters. Gisele is a soccer player as well, having represented the US under-17 squad. Her coaches have called her a “creative playmaker,” and she plays midfield. In 2023, she repeated as Gatorade Player of the Year, following in the footsteps of her sister.
The youngest Thompson’s sister is named Zoe. Though she doesn’t have the same passion for soccer as her elder siblings, she still likes singing and dancing. She frequently goes to her sisters’ games with her parents and is also a huge supporter of them.
