Actor and entertainer Barry Keoghan was born on October 18, 1992, in Dublin, Ireland, and spent his childhood in the Summerhill neighborhood. When Barry was 12 years old, his mother passed away after a long battle with drug addiction. This made for a challenging childhood for him.

Keoghan and his brother Eric were in and out of thirteen different foster homes over seven years after their mother passed away. Their aunt, grandmother, and older sister, Gemma, took them in and raised them. Despite facing early hardship and a tragic family event, Keoghan went on to become a successful actor.

At O’Connell School in Dublin, Keoghan participated in school plays as a child, but he was expelled for disruptive behavior. He and his friends would sneak into Cineworld on Parnell Street to watch movies, but even that establishment barred him after a while.

Even though he had trouble paying for necessities like bus fare after his role in “Between the Canals,” Keoghan persisted in his acting studies at Dublin’s The Factory.

On North Richmond Street in Dublin, he went to O’Connell Secondary School, where he was a member of the school theater. He received two bans: one for sneaking into Cineworld and another for not taking his gigs seriously, which led to his subsequent expulsion from the plays. But these were the places where he got his start, and that experience served him well in all his subsequent endeavors.
