When YouTube TV first decided to pick up the idea, a TV show based on the world of the legendary American martial arts film Karate Kid would have seemed like a niche project. But because of its new home at Netflix, the program is now a worldwide big hit, four years after the first season premiered.

Season 5 is the second season of the sports dramedy that Netflix has developed, and it keeps improving. We pick up where Season 4 left off, following Miyagi-Do/Eagle Fang’s crushing defeat by Cobra Kai. The karate king, Terry Silver (Thomas Ian Griffith), has daily visions of dominating the dojo.

Things don’t look promising for Chozen or Johnny, who appear to have suffered severe injuries. Viewers see some much-anticipated team-ups at the Cobra Kai dojo, including Sam (Mary Mouser) and Tory (Peyton List). The students planned to end Cobra Kai by posting a video showing Terry Silver confessing to buying off the referee in the All Valley Karate Tournament from the previous year.

Silver shows up, and when they square off, Daniel (Ralph Maccio) prevails when he recalls Silver’s gruesome training from Karate Kid III. Dallas Dupree Young’s character Kenny, Joe Seo’s character Kyler, and the Cobra Kai pupils walked out, leaving Silver in the wreckage of his trophy case.

Stingray (Paul Walter Hauser), who has recovered his sanity and informed the police that Silver, not John Kreese (Martin Cove), beat him nearly to death in the old Cobra Kai dojo, is quickly taken away in a police car. Chozen and Johnny both made it out alive as the episode ended, but there were other happy endings.

Robby and Tory come together again, as do Miguel and Sam. But just as everything seems to be coming together nicely, we find that Kreese—who we saw being stabbed in prison at the beginning of the episode—faked the incident and used it to escape from prison easily.

What Does John Kreese Want?

The main query raised by the conclusion is this. He seemed to want to atone for how he injured Johnny based on what we overheard him say to his therapist when he stole her pass to leave. But since that was a part of a scheme to escape from jail, it seems implausible now.

Retaliation seems the most logical response given what we know about Kreese and the violent way Johnny and Daniel deceived him by claiming they could help him escape prison.

Kreese has good reason to dislike both of them at this point. Terry Silver and his crew of supervillain senseis, dedicated to gaining global dominance, were the series’ most impressive opponents when they first appeared in Cobra Kai Season 5. But Sensei Kim Da-Eun, played by Alicia Hannah-Kim, stood out as the season’s top villain. Kim Da-Eun is motivated to see her family’s legacy fully honored, unlike Silver’s masochistic capitalism.

The main question is where Kim Da-Eun goes next now that Silver is out of the picture and Cobra Kai is in ruins. Regarding the story, it would make sense for her to return to South Korea. However, she is such a significant character in the show that we believe she will remain, potentially taking over as Cobra Kai’s new leader. This brings us to our following query.

What Happens to Cobra Kai Now?

Things aren’t looking suitable for the titular dojo given that we left Cobra Kai with its sensei/owner in disgrace and on the way to jail (and its founder breaking out). Years after his defining defeat by Daniel, Johnny decided to revive Cobra Kai at a Reseda strip mall in Season 1. Since then, Kreese and Silver have taken control of his well-intentioned dream. But what if that were to alter? What if Johnny and Daniel combined Cobra Kai, Eagle Fang, and Miyagi-Do to produce something beneficial for the Valley?

Even if it seems unlikely, it might happen. Whatever happens, Cobra Kai won’t be the last thing we see.

Which Cobra Kai Kids Will Join Miyagi-Do?

Fans will be speculating about which newly freed up space till Season 6 premieres as one of the things. Will Cobra Kai pupils find time on their calendar for some Miyagi-Do practice? Devin (Oona O’Brien) and Tory, who joined up against Kim Da-Eun, are the obvious candidates. Characters like Kenny and Kyler, though, are the ones that raise the most concerns.

While Kyler has been a rival since the first season, Kenny has a genuine capacity for empathy, and his story has been among the most tragic and impactful in the entire series. Robby tried to comfort and perhaps introduce him to Miyagi-Do, but Kenny was not ready.

Eagle Fang has already emerged from the ashes of Cobra Kai, but it makes sense that we would run into new dojos as the youths prepare for the Sekai Takai. There is a chance to interact with competitors from different schools because the competition is international.

However, Kim Da-Eun might establish a new dojo in the US to carry on her father’s heritage far from the humiliation of Cobra Kai. Additionally, as Miyagi-Do and Eagle Fang are only allowed to compete during significant competition, their combination may also result in forming a new team.

We anticipate that as the Cobra Kai universe grows, so will the number of dojos. Who will be in charge of them, though, is the more important query.
