The “Enchanted” love story between Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn has ended. While Swift was preoccupied with her sold-out Eras tour a few weeks ago, the couple split up.

According to Entertainment Tonight, the split was amicable and not “dramatic.” Alwyn and Swift have yet to weigh in. Many still speculate why the two ended their relationship when they appeared so stable.

How Did Taylor Swift Meet Joe Alwyn?

Swift and Alwyn started dating in October 2016, but they kept their romance quiet because they wanted to keep it private. Based on the lyrics of Swift’s song “Dress” from her album “Reputation,” it was assumed that Alwyn grabbed Swift’s eye at the Met Gala that year.

“Flashback when you met me,” the song’s lyrics begin. “Your buzzcut and my hair bleached.” While Swift wore a platinum-blonde bob with her Louis Vuitton ensemble, Alwyn displayed a shaven head.

In Taylor Swift’s eighth album, “Folklore,” Alwyn co-wrote two songs. He co-wrote three songs on the album “Evermore.”

Using the pen name William Bowery, he also co-wrote the song “Sweet Nothing” for the television show “Midnights.” On the tracks “London Boy” from “Lover” and “Lavender Haze” from “Midnights,” Swift has hinted at Alwyn.

Despite being nominated for Best Pop Vocal Album at the 2019 Grammys for “Reputation,” the singer skipped the ceremony to hang out with Alwyn at a BAFTAs afterparty. Although walking the red carpet separately, the couple sat together at the 2020 Golden Globe Awards.

During Easter Weekend 2023, a rumor that Taylor and Joe had split up after more than six years together surfaced, shocking Swifties.

According to ET, the break-up apparently took place a few weeks before the news and was “not dramatic.” “The relationship had already reached its end. It’s the reason [Alwyn] hasn’t been seen at any performances,” they added, alluding to her Eras Tour, which began in March 2023.
