Keith Urban released a statement explaining that the Monday motorbike accident he was engaged in occurred as he was being followed by a photographer on his way to an A.A. meeting in Sydney. Through his U.S. spokesman, Paul Freundlich, he explained that “today’s event resulted from one person’s desire to do his job and my desire to maintain my privacy.”

Witnesses told an Australian newspaper that Urban, 39, was being chased by a photographer on another bicycle when the accident occurred near Nicole Kidman’s home in Darling Point. According to the publication, the incident chipped the surrounding gutter. Witnesses said the performer was physically unhurt but noticeably shaken up after the crash.
