Rashford was pleased with how well England recovered from their scoreless draw with the Americans. He stated that the team was “a little bit disappointed” following the previous nil-nil tie against the USA.
Rashford and England were not done there however; the 25-year-old scored his second goal of the match and third of the competition to push England past Wales and guarantee the Three Lions won their group. Rashford had earlier scored as a substitute in the opening game’s 6-2 victory against Iran.
England scored its 100th goal at the World Cup finals on Rashford’s second goal. After the game, Rashford posted a video of his second goal celebration on Twitter, jumping for excitement and shouting with the captain and his teammates: “Last 16 here we come.”
