Avenue 5 Officially Canceled by HBO: After a Period of Two Seasons!

Avenue 5, a space comedy starring Armando Iannucci, has been formally canceled by HBO. The conclusion that the show won’t have a third season has finally been made official by Warner Bros. Discovery, a premium cable network.

It happened eight months after Deadline reported that the show was almost ending and a few days after Hugh Laurie was confirmed to be the star of Tehran’s third season on Apple TV+. Said an HBO spokeswoman:

“Going to space with Armando Iannucci has been an incredible journey,”

“While we will not be moving forward with a third season of Avenue 5, we look forward to many more adventures together.”

The series, which also stars Josh Gad, Zach Woods, Rebecca Front, Suzy Nakamura, Lenora Crichlow, Nikki Amuka-Bird, and Ethan Phillips, debuted its first season in January 2020 and was swiftly picked up for a second season in February 2020.

Due to the pandemic, however, the second season’s filming didn’t begin until August 2021, ended in November 2021, and aired in October, two and a half years after the first season. As a result, cast choices expired.
