The wrestler who has won 16 world championships shared on the social media site X that he’s coming back to WWE. However, we don’t know yet about the people he might wrestle against.

WWE announced on Monday (21 August 2023) that former world champion John Cena will return to the company next month. On the first episode of SmackDown this month, Cena will make an appearance in the ring at The Giant Center in Hershey, Pennsylvania. On September 8 in India, he’ll be a part of WWE Superstar Spectacle, a live event.

The WWE Universe is buzzing with excitement over John Cena’s return! Check out the official announcement here:

The GMC Balayogi Indoor Stadium in Hyderabad will host the WWE event in India. Formerly known as Twitter, the 16-time World Champion announced his comeback to WWE on network X. However, Cena’s probable opponents have not been announced as of yet.

“Cannot wait to reunite with the WWE family live on Smackdown! Especially excited to meet the WWE Universe in India and wrestle for the first time ever in India. The time is now. C U all very soon! WWE, WWE India.”

If you’re someone who’s interested in the WWE Championship, we recently talked about some updates related to WWE in the past. You might want to check those out too:

This will be John Cena’s first WWE appearance since he unexpectedly competed in July’s Money in the Bank at The O2 Arena. This year, in April, he was also featured on the WrestleMania roster. Cena had challenged Austin Theory for the United States Championship at WrestleMania 39. Unfortunately for Cena, he lost that match.

John Cena WWE Return

Although John Cena has been the company’s public face for many years, he has not been actively participating in matches for WWE as of late. Cena only made one appearance in WWE all of last year.

When discussing his time in WWE, Cena recently said that he feels nostalgic about being involved with the company.

“Man, I wish I was still there every day. I just can’t. My body can’t do it anymore and I don’t want to give the consumer a bad product. That’s a thing that I learned from those veterans at that time. Guys like Eddie just would risk so much.”

“He’s like, ‘I’m never gonna give the consumer a bad product. I don’t care how I feel. I don’t care how I feel physically, I don’t care what baggage I have mentally. When I’m on, they paid good money and I’m gonna go out there and give everything I have and sometimes find it when it’s not there,'”

WWE hasn’t held a live show in India since 2017 at New Delhi’s Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium, but next month’s Hyderabad Superstar Spectacle will change all that. WWE Superstar Spectacular will not be shown in the USA this September. Two years ago, the very first broadcast of this event took place in India.
