What Happened to Lil Tjay?
Lil Tjay and his friend Antonio Boyd were shot during a robbery attempt on June 22, 2022, in Edgewater, New Jersey. Lil Tjay was shot seven times, whereas Antonio was only shot once.
The individual who fired them was also shot, but he managed to escape with the help of others. The shooter, Mohammed Konate, was ultimately captured by police. He was accused with attempted murder, armed robbery, and possession of a firearm.
Jeffery Valdez and Antoine Boyd, Lil Tjay’s buddies, were also charged with unlawful possession of a weapon but were eventually released. Lil Tjay was not charged with any offense.
Lil Tjay had emergency surgery at Hackensack University Medical Center following the gunshot. There were speculations that he had died or was brain-dead, but these were debunked.
On July 1, 2022, it was confirmed that he was still in the hospital but was awake and able to communicate. Lil Tjay shared a video on social media on August 24, 2022, informing everyone that he was doing well and will return even stronger.
