One of the best defensive ends to ever play in the National Football League (NFL) is Philadelphia Eagles great Reggie White. Before retiring in 2000, the Tennessee Volunteers alumni played for the Philadelphia Eagles, Green Bay Packers, and Carolina Panthers during his extensive NFL career.
The Super Bowl champion White passed away on December 26, 2004, at his family’s Cornelius, North Carolina, home. Arrhythmia was the cause of death. His two children, Jeremy White and Jecolia White, as well as his wife Sara White, survive him.

On December 26, 2004, Reggie White was spending the night at his Cornelius, North Carolina, home with his family. When Reggie started having difficulty sometime that morning, medical personnel quickly took him to a neighboring hospital in Huntersville, North Carolina, where they declared him dead.
The Mecklenburg County Medical Examiner’s Office stated that White’s long-term cardiac and pulmonary sarcoidosis was most likely the cause of her deadly arrhythmia. Other NFL honors for White include one Super Bowl ring, three UPI NFC Defensive Player of the Year Awards, eight first-team All-Pro nominations, five second-team All-Pro selections, and thirteen consecutive Pro Bowl selections.
