The Bay Season 4 Release Date: Get Ready to Watch Crime Drama!

The fourth season of the crime drama The Bay will premiere next month, according to ITV. The show, which had its 2019 premiere and finished its most recent season in February 2022, will pick up again on March 8 and will once more follow DS Jenn Townsend (Marsha Thomason) as she works to solve another mystery with a coastal setting.

In the third season, Thomason joined the cast and replaced Morven Christie as the show’s primary detective, DC Lisa Armstrong, which she had played in the first two seasons.

This time, the drama will center on the unexpected and suspicious passing of local mother-of-four Beth Metcalf, with the investigation that follows revealing secrets and lies at every turn.

In order to assist Beth’s widow Dean (Gentleman Jack’s Joe Armstrong), who is so overcome with grief that he is unable to give his children the care they so sorely need, DS Townsend and her colleagues will need to find answers quickly.

Thomas Law (The World’s End), Andrew Dowbiggin (COBRA), Daniel Ryan (Innocent), Erin Shanagher (Peaky Blinders), Barry Sloane (Peaky Blinders), and Thomas Law will all return alongside Thomason (Revenge).

The four Metcalf children are portrayed by Tom Taylor (Us), Eloise Thomas (Chloe), Will Oldfield (The Goes Wrong Show), and Ella Smith, while Ian Puleston-Davies (Pennyworth), Karl Davies (The Tower), and Christopher Coghill (Slow Horses) are new cast members this time around. Claire Goose (Unforgotten) plays Chris Fischer’s ex-wife Jacqui (CBeebies Presents: The Tempest).

ITV’s head of drama Polly Hill stated The Bay continues to capture audiences and is a tremendously popular drama for ITV, both on linear transmission and the ITV Hub [now ITVX] when filming for the next season began last June.

She said:

“Marsha Thomason’s casting in the last series was inspired, and Daragh Carville and the Tall Story Pictures team once again deliver a plot full of twists and turns that will keep you guessing to the end.

“Whilst all set again the dramatic coastline of Morecambe, with its glorious sea and skyscapes.”
