The Dolan Twins, an American comedy duo consisting of Ethan and Grayson Dolan (born December 16, 1999), gained notoriety on the video-sharing platform Vine in May 2013. The twins are from Washington Township, Morris County, New Jersey’s Long Valley area.

The Dolan Twins obliquely talked about their plan to leave YouTube during an episode of their Deeper podcast that aired on January 14, 2021. They clarified, saying, “We are not moving on from YouTube because we have a lack of appreciation for you guys.” But a podcast interview they had in August 2019 with Logan Paul on Impaulsive provided greater insight into their thoughts on YouTube.

The fact that Ethan and Grayson’s father passed away in January 2019 is another possible explanation for their social media disengagement. The Dolan twins’ father passed away at the age of 50 after more than two years of cancer treatment.

The two announced at the time that they would take a temporary break from social media. Many admirers, though, disregarded their right to privacy. On Twitter, #SeanDolanFuneralParty started trending, with users arranging to gather at the funeral of Ethan and Grayson’s father.
