La Brea Season 2 Episode 10 Ending Explained: Why Does Levi Want to Kill James?
The fifth episode of the second season of NBC’s sci-fi drama “La Brea” moves closer to answering certain mysteries while raising additional concerns about the characters’ futures. Additionally, it brings back a significant character from the past, which gives the characters other fodder for argument.
There are references to first-season characters who didn’t seem all that significant at the time, pushing the time travel aspect even further. However, they may have played an essential role in how everything worked out for the individuals that arrived in 10,000 BC via the LA sinkhole.

Gavin chooses, against Eve’s wishes, to return to James to learn more about his scheme to fix the time machine that can return them to their timeline. Born in 1998, ten years after being abandoned by Gavin and his family, Levi meets him on the road.
Levi explains that sinkholes are still a concern today and will continue to be so in the future. He returned to assist them, believing that Caroline’s virus wouldn’t have successfully infected the computer. When Levi learns that Gavin is prepared to collaborate with his father, he is shocked.
Scott exposes the secret he had been keeping, and everyone at the clearing waits for Taamet and the Exiles to arrive. While the others stay behind to keep watch and defend themselves from the impending attack, Sam organizes a group to search for Taamet in the woods.
Izzy and Josh disagree on whether or not their father’s decision to reconcile with James could have an adverse effect on them.
Lucas cannot help but feel Virgil had something to do with it, despite being told that Taamet is the real threat. His fears are confirmed when Virgil is appointed to oversee the watch and sends a signal asking the Exiles to attack the clearing.
In the meantime, Veronica and Ella deduce that the Exiles are searching for Aaron’s journal, which he was buried with. Later, it is revealed to be the exact notebook Dr. Moore owned.

It appeared that Levi’s chapter in the tale ended when he was abandoned in 1988. He chose to stay behind rather than accompany the Harris family to 10,000 BC despite his love for Eve and his connection to them. He spent ten years living in the future. He adjusted even though it wasn’t his timeline.
He enrolled in the government program intended to stop sinkholes after realizing that the issue still existed. Additionally, he married Marissa after falling in love with her. But after she passed away, he decided to return and complete her work. When they meet up again, Levi tells Gavin this tale.
According to Levi, he is there to assist Gavin and the others. But he confesses that his strategy is entirely different when he meets Eve at the end of the episode. To murder James, he traveled to the past. We still have many unanswered mysteries regarding Levi’s trip back to 10,000 BC, but it is simpler to explain why Levi has made it his goal to assassinate James.
The episode provides enough information to demonstrate that Levi is not the only person who would prefer James to stop fiddling with the timelines. Even if Levi might have told Gavin the whole truth about his objective, we can presume that much of what he said to him was probably true.
He enters 10,000 BC through a portal at the start of the episode, not a sinkhole. This portal doesn’t just materialize out of thin air; someone had to have created it. Levi may be involved with the government or another entity researching time travel.
He must have been sent back in time because everyone can now believe him and even help him in his quest because he has previously been there and has connections. It’s possible that the team members Levi is working with have reached Caroline’s same conclusion.
They think that James’ time travel scheme is terrible for the entire world and that closing the leading portal permanently is the only way to stop the death and damage brought on by the sinkholes. Additionally, they may have anticipated that James wouldn’t make it simple for them to do so.

Even if they successfully shut it down, James might construct another and wreak havoc. Therefore, eliminating James and solving the issue at its core is the best course of action. It’s also possible that Levi has another purpose in addition to this one that is more deeply personal.
He refers to Marissa, the spouse he fell in love with. He doesn’t disclose how she passed away, but he claims he came to accomplish the job she began. Marissa and James might be related in some way.
It’s probable that Marissa was one of the project’s senior scientists and supported Caroline after she and James fell out because it’s known that people from the future settled down in the 1980s. According to some evidence, James may also have played a role in Marissa’s demise.
