Matthew Perry To Eliminate Mentions Of Keanu Reeves From His Memoir

In his memoir, Matthew Perry insulted Keanu Reeves, and he is now apologizing for it.

The “Friends” actor said that a prior mention of Reeves would no longer be included in future printings of his debut memoir, “Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing,” during a Saturday presentation at the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books, according to the Los Angeles Times and Variety.

The LA Times article was posted on the festival’s official Twitter account.

While his former co-stars River Phoenix from “A Night in the Life of Jimmy Reardon” and Chris Farley from “Almost Heroes” both passed away at a young age, Perry stated in the book that Reeves “still walks among us.” Reactions to Perry’s execution were adverse.

“I said a stupid thing, “ At the festival, Perry spoke with Matt Brennan, the LA Times’ deputy arts and entertainment editor.“It was a mean thing to do.”

Perry stated that although he has not yet reconciled with Reeves in person, he will take advantage of the chance. “If I run into the guy, I’ll apologize,” he told Brennan.

“I pulled his name because I live on the same street,” Perry said. “I’ve apologized publicly to him. Any future versions of the book will not have his name in it.”

Perry has previously expressed regret for mentioning Reeves in his book. Perry also regretted the allusion in a statement to People magazine in October of last year.

“I’m actually a big fan of Keanu. I just chose a random name, my mistake,” Perry said at the time. “I apologize. I should have used my own name instead.”
