WWE Extreme Rules 2022 Will Feature First-Ever NXT Stipulation Match

During the conflict between Matt Riddle and Timothy Thatcher in 2020, NXT debuted a new stipulation match called The Fight Pit. The match format has only been employed once before and has never been used outside the NXT brand.

However, the game has advanced to the WWE main roster. Seth Rollins and Riddle were engaged in yet another pull-apart brawl backstage when Riddle challenged Rollins to meet him inside the Steel Structure after the two interfered in each other’s matches once more on this week’s episode of Raw.

The October 8 match at Extreme Rules in Philadelphia became official when Rollins concurred. Both contestants will be in a specially constructed steel cage that surrounds the ring and has an elevated platform. Additionally, unlike in a Steel Cage Match, victory may only be achieved through knockout or submission.

Their continuous plot—which began before SummerSlam—works wonderfully with Riddle luring Rollins into the match. Rollins often imitated Randy Orton’s moveset when the two first met at Clash in the Castle to aggravate “The Original Bro.”

He made mistakes, which allowed Rollins to win with a pair of Curb Stomps. Riddle has been teasing Rollins by constantly interfering in his matches, despite his earlier declaration that their feud was over.

He interfered this week, causing Rollins to lose to Bobby Lashley in a United States Championship match, depriving him of the opportunity to win the WWE Grand Slam twice. Currently, Liv Morgan vs. Ronda Rousey in an Extreme Rules Match for the SmackDown Women’s Championship is the only other match officially announced for the program.

The SmackDown Women’s Championship match between Roman Reigns and Logan Paul will be the main event at Crown Jewel in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on November 5. Survivor Series WarGames will take place in Boston on November 26.
