Leslie J. Garfield’s Former West Village Townhouse sold for $15 Million

Brokerage founder Leslie J. Garfield’s former West Village townhouse sold for $15 Million, about $8 million less than its asking price three years ago.

David Slaven the seller of Maspeth-based Red Brick Properties paid Garfield $7.65 million for the home at 313 West 4th Street, NY in 2015.

He spent two years refurbishing and placed it for $23 million in 2018.

The improvements weren’t tweaks: Slaven reconfigured two levels, added a fifth floor and moved the basement. In additions 1,700 square feet to the property, bringing its total to 5,300.

The townhouse has five bedrooms, six bathrooms, a bluestone garden, an outdoor kitchen and a bright heated path to cut down on shoveling and spreading ice-melt. Still, there were no takers.

As time passed by and Manhattan’s luxury market lost ground, Slaven cut the price until it reached $16.95 million.

Leslie J. Garfield’s Matthew Lesser, Ravi Kantha and Matthew Pravda had the listing.

Before selling it to Slaven, Garfield had kept the property since 1969 as part of his investment portfolio.
